Popular digital banking app Dave has confirmed it suffered a security breach after a hacker published details of 7.5 million users on a public forum; Dave said the security breach originated on the network of a former business partner, Waydev, an analytics platform used by engineering teams; the data is available on the RAID forum as a free download; the data involved includes full name, phone numbers, emails, birth dates, and home addresses; social security numbers and passwords were encrypted so were not viewable in the download; Dave said they had no evidence that hackers used the data to gain access to user accounts and execute any unauthorized actions; the company has brought in cyber-security firm CrowdStrike to assist the investigation.
