Many Lending Club investors just use the filtering on LendingClub.com to make their investments. Other investors, like me, download all the in-funding notes into a CSV file and do their filtering in Excel. If you are part of the first group then this change will not apply to you. For those of us who download the CSV file from the Browse Notes screen then you will notice some big changes starting today.
Lending Club published this post on their blog last night; here is an excerpt from that post:
The additional data includes loan details and status, third-party reported credit attributes, and information reported by the borrower. This detailed information can be downloaded by logged in users from any page of our Browse Notes section by clicking on the “Download All” link on the bottom right corner of the page.
If you don’t know where to find this download link Lending Club also provided this useful graphic to help you locate it.
There are some very useful additional fields in this file, some that I have been wanting for a long time such as loan listing URL and additional credit data. In reality, this change is mostly about additional credit data with a few small tweaks elsewhere. Unfortunately, this new data is not available in the big loan history file so we won’t be able to do much analysis on this other data just yet.
I have a bunch of macros that I run inside Excel that helps me with filtering so these will all have to be rewritten before I can use them again. While this is somewhat of a hassle I like that investors are getting more data on borrowers now. To check out the new layout right now here is a direct link to download the new CSV file.
