The Financial Conduct Authority released firm-specific complaint data for the second half of 2019 which showed that challenger banks hold up quite well versus incumbents; the only two challengers in the report were Monzo with 11,451 complaints and Starling Bank with 2,119 complaints; the numbers were dramatically lower than incumbent banks Barclays who had 215,000 complaints and HSBC who had 206,000 complaints; Monzo came in at a rate five times higher than Starling Bank despite having three times the number of customers.
