There are many consumers who have a thin credit file or no credit history at all; a new bill called the Credit Access and Inclusion Act of 2017 would amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act; the proposed legislation which has already passed the House would allow consumers to build up their credit history by removing barriers from states that prevent utilities from sharing payment data; it would also allow for the inclusion of rent and other telecom payment information which are currently not included in traditional credit data.
