The Ranger Direct Lending Fund is trading at a discount to its NAV in part due to effects from issues at Argon Credit; the Fund had exposure of $28 million to Argon when it announced its bankruptcy in December 2016; while it said the Fund would see little effect from the exposure it has now announced a write-down from holdings in the Princeton Alternative Income fund which was affected by Argon Credit; further developments continue to occur and volatility is expected to continue for the Fund's share price. In a letter to the board at OnDeck, Marathon Partners has outlined changes they want to see enacted; Marathon believes OnDeck has put a premium on growing their originations instead of getting costs under control and growing shareholder value; additionally they have been disappointed with OnDeck's corporate governance and executive compensation practices; the private equity firm recommends the lender cut costs to get them under control and seek the sale of the company to a stable partner. Providing credit to the underserved is something a lot of companies attempt to achieve; 138 million people in the US need access to credit and most of these individuals are concentrated in nine states; when it comes to credit there isn't a lot of options for non prime consumers; at LendIt USA 2017 James Gutierrez of Insikt discussed expanding access to credit where the consumer gets a personal touch to their experience; at his previous firm James offered face to face loans in Latino supermarkets to the underbanked; his experience there allowed him to bring that personal interaction to a digital platform without losing the intimate feel; Insikt is able to scale in a quicker fashion but still provide credit where the consumer knows they are getting an option that suits their needs. Online consumer lender 4finance has raised $325 million from an issuance of bonds; the bonds are senior unsecured, five-year fixed rate notes issued with a 10.75% yield at par; the firm will use the proceeds for debt restructuring, business development and corporate management. Source
