On November 3rd, On Deck Capital, the largest online small business lender in the US, reported its third quarter earnings; Lend Academy provides details of the earnings report in their article; company reported a loss of $16.6 million; it had reported a profit for the same period in 2015; the adjusted loss came to -$0.18 per share, versus Wall Street expectations of -$0.15 per share; originations increased from $590 million in the second quarter to $613 million for the third quarter; company expects full-year revenue of $280 million to $290 million; shares closed at $4.52, down from $9.46 a year ago; last week, it was publicized that Zhengyuan Lu, an executive for investor loan sales, is leaving the firm to join Victory Park Capital. Inc. has released their list of the 5000 fastest growing private companies; this year over 250 companies made it in the financial services category; the list shares basic information about each company including revenue numbers; several online lenders made the list including Avant, OppLoans, Kabbage, loanDepot, Lighter Capital, FastPay, National Funding and ZestFinance. Lend Academy provides highlights from PeerIQ's Q1 2017 securitization market report in their article; total marketplace lending securitization issuance for the first quarter was $2.9 billion and all of the quarter's securitization deals were rated by a rating agency; SoFi leads the market in securitizations with nearly $9 billion representing 51% of the market's deal value. Prosper has announced a funding deal which has been in development since August; the firm has received an investment commitment for $5 billion over the next two years from a consortium of investors including affiliates of New Residential Investment Corp., Jefferies Group LLC, Third Point LLC and an entity of which Soros Fund Management LLC is the principal investment manager; the consortium is also being offered an equity stake which could account for as much as 35% ownership in the company and is expected to help promote a long term business relationship; the committed investment will represent a substantial increase for the firm which is likely to report approximately $2.2 billion in loan originations for 2016. Prosper's originations were $775 million in the second quarter of 2017, up from $586 million in the first quarter; adjusted EBITDA was $6.7 million in the second quarter and the company was cash flow positive; Prosper had their first profitable quarter in Q3 of 2014 before growing significantly and subsequently falling back into the red; whole loan sales represented 94% of total volume in Q2; Prosper has originated a total of $9.7 billion in loans; Prosper also announced closing a $500 million securitization; PMIT 2017-2 was rated by Kroll Bond Rating Agency, Inc. and Fitch Ratings with the Class A pool receiving an A rating.
