Lending Club's CIO, Siddhartha Jajodia, sent a letter to investors on October 14 alerting them of an increase in interest rates; Lending Club says it will increase loan rates by a weighted average of 26 bps with rate changes mostly concentrated in the lower credit quality loan grades; the rate increase follows a previous weighted average interest rate increase of 135 basis points from November 2015 to June 2016; the rate increase is consistent with a lower credit quality trend observed from the platform’s borrowers as well as a higher trending rate environment in the US; additionally the firm also reported changes to credit policy standards and improvements to its collections efforts.
Morgan Stanley has upgraded Lending Club's stock to overweight; the stock closed at $4.81 on Tuesday, November 2; analyst, James Faucette, notes the company's new executive leadership and positive capital growth potential for 2017; says the stock could increase to $17; company reports earnings on Monday. The regulator might have uncovered some things that they're not entirely happy about. I think the FCA has been surprised in the variation over the types of platforms they have had to examine. We're an easier prospect than some to understand - we're literally just the middleman, we don't take a balance sheet risk, and we don't lend our own money." Source

Kroll Bond Rating Agency has assigned preliminary ratings to a LendingClub securitization portfolio; the loan securitization, LendingClub Issuance Trust, Series 2016-NP2 (LCIT 2016-NP2), is valued at $101.75 million and includes two classes of notes with LendingClub consumer loans; the class A tranche which accounts for 84% of the deal at $85.3 million, is rated BBB; the class B tranche accounts for 16% at $16.4 million and is rated BB+. The lawsuit according to Crowdfund Insider names former CEO Renaud Laplanche along with current and former board members as well as former CFO Carrie Dolan; according to the complaint: "Throughout the period December 11, 2014 and continuing through May 9, 2016 (the "Relevant Period"), the individual defendants breached their fiduciary duties to LendingClub by failing to institute adequate internal controls regarding financial disclosures, related party transactions, and data integrity and security, all while causing LendingClub to represent in the Registration Statement and a series of subsequent filings that such controls were sufficient."; two shareholders filed the suit.
