SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce unveiled a new proposal at a blockchain event in Chicago yesterday for a three year grace period for new crypto tokens; the idea is to give legitimate crypto projects a shot without running afoul of US securities law; known as CryptoMom in some circles for her ongoing support of cryptocurrencies, Peirce says that tokens may appear to have qualities of a security at launch but mature to the point where that is no longer the case; if adopted by the majority of SEC commissioners it would create “a strict set of requirements for crypto projects to raise funds through a token sale, including requiring personal disclosures, code disclosures, public notices and a number of other factors.” Coindesk
