Citi recently announced an upgrade to their mobile app to help add features and streamline the app offering; the new app features more financial management tools, you can open an account on your device and pay bills; they also added a 360 Financial View tool to give the customer a full understanding and view into all their accounts, Citi and non Citi accounts; the app is part of a broader digital strategy the bank has been pushing in recent weeks. With bank earnings season upon us we have seen a continued growth among mobile users at some of the biggest banks; JPMorgan Chase saw active mobile customers jump 13 percent and Wells Fargo saw total active digital users jump 3 percent; mobile banking has become a priority for all banks as the focus has shifted from just offering mobile to increasing engagement on mobile. TD Bank has run into a number of issues since updating their online banking and mobile app experiences; customers have had issues accessing their accounts, transferring funds and paying bills; the issues point to a problem among banks as they try to figure out how long new product releases should be tested before releasing to market; the bank has tried to ease customer complaints by responding on social media but that has only made problems worse; with the amount of competition for customers increasing in banking the traditional players will need to better prepare the beta testing phase.
